Sleeper Buses Cannot Operate Without BRTA Approval
The High Court has ordered that sleeper buses cannot operate on roads and highways without approval from the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA). The court also rejected a petition from the Sleeper Bus Owners’ Association seeking permission to operate such buses on highways.
A High Court bench led by Justice K. M. Hafizul Alam issued the order on Wednesday (September 9).
The association had petitioned the court for permission to operate sleeper buses on roads and highways. After hearing the petition, the court dismissed it.
In its order, the court said that no vehicle lacking BRTA approval would be allowed to operate on roads or highways. Sleeper buses must be operated in accordance with the rules prescribed under the Road Transport Act 2018.
