Jamaat Leader Major (Retd.) Akhtaruzzaman Arrested
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) has arrested Jamaat leader and former member of parliament Major (Retd.) Akhtaruzzaman.
DB Additional Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam confirmed that he was arrested from his home in Mirpur DOHS, Dhaka, on Friday afternoon (October 2).
Earlier, a case was filed against Akhtaruzzaman over allegations of creating disorder, obstructing government officials, and assaulting people during a dispute over a shortage of luggage and trolleys at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Airport security officer Md Shahriar Alam Sajib filed the case—case number 06—under several sections of the Penal Code at Airport Police Station on Friday.
