4.3 Million Farmers to Receive Farmer Cards This Year
A total of 4.3 million farmers will receive Farmer Cards this year, Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid has said.
He also said 100,047 farmers would receive financial support for agricultural supplies on the opening day of the pilot programme.
The minister shared the information with reporters on Wednesday (September 30) after visiting the programme venue at Fulgazi Government Pilot High School field in Feni.
The event will include the distribution of Family Cards, Farmer Cards and honorariums for mosque imams, temple priests and representatives of other religious places of worship.
The minister said work had begun to create a database of 4.3 million farmers after the successful completion of the programme’s pre-pilot phase.
In the first phase, 110,165 farmers will be included in the Farmer Card programme. Of them, 100,047 will receive 2,500 taka each on October 1 to purchase agricultural supplies.
A total of 7,643 farmers in Feni district will receive printed Farmer Cards.
The October 1 programme will connect 77 upazilas from 56 districts across the country.
The minister said the programme would help farmers buy agricultural supplies and make it easier for government assistance to reach them.
