Local Government Elections to Begin on November 12
Bangladesh’s local government elections will begin on November 12 with Union Parishad polls in 80 upazilas.
Election Commissioner retired Brigadier General Abul Fazal Mohammad Sanaullah announced the schedule while speaking to journalists at the Election Commission on Monday (September 14).
He said the Union Parishad elections would be held in seven phases. Unless the law is amended, the Election Commission will conduct the local government elections under the existing legal framework.
He added that the commission would hold discussions with all political parties regarding the elections.
