Two Young Cousins Drown While Fishing in Pond

The incident occurred at around 11 a.m. on Monday (September 7) in Dhaluabari village.

The victims were Siam, 8, son of Mominur Islam of Char Bishnupur village, and Mofassira, 7, daughter of Dulal of Khamar village. They were maternal cousins and had come with their families to visit their grandmother’s home in Dhaluabari.

At around 11 a.m., Siam, Mofassira, and another child from the neighbourhood entered a pond beside the house to catch fish. They were using a torn mosquito net as a fishing net. At one point, Siam and Mofassira drowned. The third child became frightened and returned home without alerting anyone.

At around 1 p.m., local residents spotted Siam’s body floating in the pond. Family members and local residents recovered his body before finding Mofassira’s body beneath the water.
