State Minister’s Car Veers into Paddy Field; Woman Dies After Being Hit
In Shibganj, Bogura, a car carrying State Minister for Public Administration and Food Abdul Bari veered into a roadside paddy field after the driver lost control while trying to avoid a woman who suddenly came into its path. The pedestrian was struck by the car and later died from her injuries.
The victim was identified as Firoza, 55, of Gopinathpur village in Shibganj. She was the wife of the late Nizam Uddin.
The accident occurred at around 9 a.m. on Friday (September 4) on the Joypurhat–Mokamtala Highway in the Gopinathpur area near Kichak Bazar.
Police said the state minister was travelling from Dhaka to Joypurhat that morning. As his motorcade reached Gopinathpur, Firoza suddenly came into the path of his car. While attempting to avoid her, the driver lost control, and the vehicle left the road and entered the adjacent field. Local residents took the injured woman to hospital.
Firoza died at around noon while undergoing treatment at the privately run TMSS Medical College Hospital in Bogura Sadar.
