‘Pay Me 20 Million Taka and I’ll Sign Everything’—Engineer Suspended After Video Goes Viral
Lakshmipur Power Development Board Executive Engineer Nurul Amin has been suspended after a video allegedly showing him accepting a bribe and discussing a financial deal went viral on Facebook.
Nurul Amin was serving as the executive engineer of the Sales and Distribution Division in Lakshmipur.
Sheikh Firoz Kabir, acting chief engineer of the PDB’s Cumilla Distribution Region, confirmed the suspension on Monday afternoon (September 28).
He said a three-member investigation committee has been formed. The committee is headed by SM Iqbal, supervising engineer of the Operation and Maintenance Circle-1 in the Mymensingh region.
An official order issued by the PDB’s Investigation and Discipline Directorate said action was taken after a video containing Nurul Amin’s conversation about a financial transaction was broadcast in the media.
The action was taken under Rule 141(1) of the Bangladesh Power Development Board Employees’ Service Regulations 1982.
