MP Gazi Nazrul Islam and First Wife Arrested in Suicide Abetment Case
Police have formally arrested Satkhira-4 lawmaker Gazi Nazrul Islam and his first wife, Maksuda Begum, in an abetment of suicide case filed with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in Dhaka.
Md Ibne Mizan, deputy commissioner of police for the Tejgaon Division, confirmed the arrests at around 1 am on Monday (September 21).
The case was filed by the father of the MP’s second wife. The complaint names Gazi Nazrul Islam, Maksuda Begum and a driver named Obaidullah—who is also the complainant’s brother-in-law—as accused.
Police earlier went to the flat after being informed of the incident and later called in a forensic team from the Criminal Investigation Department.
After completing an inquest, police sent the body to a hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.
