The moon marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Rabi al-Thani has been sighted in Bangladesh. Accordingly, the holy Fateha-e-Yazdaham will be observed on Wednesday, September 23.

The decision was made at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation’s conference room at Baitul Mukarram on Saturday evening (September 12).

Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad chaired the meeting.

The committee reached the decision after reviewing information on the sighting of the Rabi al-Thani moon for the Islamic year 1448 AH. Reports were received from district administrations, the Islamic Foundation’s headquarters and its divisional and district offices, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, and the Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARRSO).
