All children aged six and under across Bangladesh will receive measles vaccines from September 26, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain has announced.
He made the announcement on Saturday afternoon (September 12) while inaugurating a free medical camp at the Paragaon Eidgah ground in Rupganj. The event was organised to mark the founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
The health minister said most children arriving at hospitals with measles had not been vaccinated. He stressed that vaccination was the most effective way to protect children from the disease.
He added that the government was working to ensure better healthcare for everyone and urged all concerned to work together to make the childhood vaccination programme successful.
