BFF Sacks British Coach Gerard Jones During U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has dismissed British coach Gerard Jones as head coach of the national youth team midway through the AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifying campaign.
BFF confirmed the decision in a press release on Friday afternoon (September 4).
The statement said assistant coach Atikur Rahman Mishu had been appointed interim head coach for Bangladesh’s match against India on September 6.
Bangladesh suffered a 3–0 defeat to Syria in their second qualifying match in Tashkent on Thursday. The Young Tigers had earlier lost their opening match 2–0 to hosts Uzbekistan. After failing to earn a point from their first two matches, BFF decided to remove Jones.
