The awards will be presented on Monday, 5 October, at a ceremony at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to attend as the chief guest.
World Teachers’ Day was first observed in 1994. In 1966, UNESCO and the International Labour Organization adopted recommendations concerning teachers’ status, rights, responsibilities and working conditions. The day has since been observed on 5 October. Bangladesh first observed it nationally in 2023.
The day recognises teachers’ contributions to education and society and calls for greater respect for the teaching profession.
