‘Roid’ to Represent Bangladesh at the Oscars

Mejbaur Rahman Sumon’s film ‘Roid’ has been selected to represent Bangladesh in the International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards, widely known as the Oscars.
The film was chosen after an evaluation and discussion by the seven-member Oscar Bangladesh Committee.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka on Sunday morning (September 27).
Dr Mohammad Zahirul Islam, chairman of the Oscar Bangladesh Committee and president of BFFS, announced ‘Roid’ as Bangladesh’s official submission.
Five films were submitted before the September 16 deadline. They were Mejbaur Rahman Sumon’s ‘Roid’, Redoan Rony’s ‘Dom’, Nurul Alam Atique’s ‘Manusher Bagan’, Mohammad Touqir Islam’s ‘Delupi’ and Monirul Akash Haque’s ‘The University of Chankharpul’.
The selection committee unanimously chose ‘Roid’ to represent Bangladesh at the Oscars.
