RAB Dissolved as Special Response Battalion Begins Operations

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has been dissolved and replaced by the Special Response Battalion (SRB), a new specialised unit operating under Bangladesh Police.

The SRB officially began operations on Wednesday (September 16), a day after the relevant law was published in the official gazette.

The Special Response Battalion (SRB) Act, 2026, was gazetted as Act No. 19 of 2026.

The change was also reflected in a press conference invitation issued by the new force, which featured the words “SRB Bangladesh” in place of RAB. However, the overall design of the logo remains unchanged.

Different units of the force have also begun using the new name and logo in their press releases.
