Nepal Flood Death Toll Surpasses 900; More Than 4,000 Missing
THT Report • August 31, 2026
The death toll from devastating floods along Nepal’s Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers has risen to 903, with 4,247 people still missing.
The Kathmandu Post reported the figures on Monday (August 31), citing the latest information from the Nepalese government.
In an updated report released at 9 a.m., the country’s national disaster management authority said 903 bodies had so far been recovered from districts affected by the floods.
Last Wednesday, a huge mass of ice, rock and soil collapsed into a river in the Himalayan region near the Nepal–Tibet border, triggering severe flash floods.
Floodwaters and debris surged down the river valley, sweeping away settlements, roads, bridges and power infrastructure.
