NCP to Form Committees in All Upazilas by October

THT Report • September 28, 2026
The National Citizen Party (NCP) has decided to form committees in every upazila across the country by the end of October.
The party has also finalised a plan to restructure its central committee and Political Council and distribute responsibilities among its leaders.
The decisions were made at a meeting of the Political Council, the NCP’s highest policymaking body, at the party’s temporary central office in Banglamotor, Dhaka, on Monday afternoon (September 28).
The meeting also decided to form a 23-member organisational subcommittee headed by Sarjis Alam, the party’s chief coordinator for the northern region.
The subcommittee will have two deputy chiefs from the Political Council. Each division will also have one divisional organising secretary and one assistant organising secretary.
At the meeting, chaired by Nahid Islam, party leaders criticised the government’s steps regarding constitutional amendments. They alleged that the government had ignored the public verdict of the referendum and betrayed the nation by forming what they described as a “sham constitutional amendment committee.”
