Malaysia Ends Multiple-Entry Visit Visa Facility for 31 Countries, Including Bangladesh
THT Report • September 4, 2026
Malaysia has restricted access to multiple-entry visas (MEVs) for citizens of 31 countries, including Bangladesh. Under the new policy, Bangladeshi tourists will have limited access to one-year multiple-entry visit visas and will generally receive single-entry visas instead.
Malaysia’s Immigration Department said that, from September 1, multiple-entry visas would no longer be broadly available to citizens of all countries. For visit visas, the MEV facility has been withdrawn for citizens of 31 South Asian and African countries, with single-entry visas generally being issued instead. The department has also published a list of the countries affected.
However, multiple-entry visas will remain available for specific purposes, including business travel, medical treatment, fly-and-cruise trips, and wedding tourism.
The new policy primarily applies to visit visas and social visits. It will not directly affect the work permits or employment-related visas of Bangladeshis and other foreign nationals working in Malaysia.
