High Court Forms Three-Member Committee to Safeguard Dignity of National Flag

The High Court has formed a three-member committee to protect the dignity and honour of Bangladesh’s national flag.
The committee will include a judicial officer, a representative of the Cabinet Division and a professor from a public university.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Ahmed Sohel and Justice S M Iftekhar Uddin Mahmud formed the committee through a written order issued on Tuesday (September 15).
The committee will investigate whether the national flag is being displayed, hoisted or used behind the chairs and sofas of government officials at public offices and statutory bodies.
It will also examine whether such use complies with the Bangladesh National Anthem, Flag and Emblem Order, 1972, and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Flag Rules, 1972.
The committee has been directed to submit its report to the court within 60 days.
