Dr Saleh Shibli said the prime minister had decided to increase the grants for the religious festivals of the Hindu and Buddhist communities.
“No previous government has provided such a large amount. This is part of the prime minister’s efforts to build a non-communal country,” he said.
He also said the prime minister would exchange greetings with members of the Buddhist community at their Kathina Chibar Dana ceremony on October 26.
Bijon Kanti Sarkar said the Prabarana Purnima and Kathina Chibar Dana celebrations would be held in different phases from the second week of October until mid-November.
